DVC Rental Store Review & How to Rent DVC Points Tutorial

Disney’s Grand Floridan Villas

So you are heading back to Walt Disney World and want to stay at the Deluxe Resorts without paying the Deluxe Resort prices. You've heard of Disney Vacation Club but are not interested in locking yourself into a long-term 50-year contract. You also have heard the term renting DVC points, but you are not 100% sure how that works or how to find a company to trust.

In this post, I will break down the cost of renting DVC points and the pros and cons of renting DVC points from DVC Rental Store, which is my trusted source for renting Disney Vacation Club points, financing resales, and purchasing Disney Vacation Club's resale contracts.

In this blog, you’ll discover everything you need to know about renting Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points—a fantastic way to stay at deluxe Disney resorts for a fraction of the cost! We’ll break down how the DVC rental process works, explain why the DVC Rental Store is a trusted option, and show you how renting points can save your family money while providing an incredible Disney vacation experience. Whether you're new to the idea or looking for the best tips on where to rent, this guide will help you make the most of your stay!

Where do the rental points come from?

They come from Disney Vacation Club owners like me! When we don’t have a Walt Disney World trip planned or decide to take a break for a year, we may have extra points we don't want to lose. Instead of letting them go to waste, we partner with a trusted agency like DVC Rental Store, which helps us rent out those points to guests like you—giving you the chance to enjoy a deluxe Disney resort stay at a lower cost!

Why DVC rental store?

There are a lot of companies and individuals that rent Disney Vacation Club points. But I only want to recommend businesses I know and trust. As a DVC owner, I have yet to have the opportunity to rent out points. But I did a deep dive when I discovered that DVC Rental Store owned Monera Financial, the company we used to finance our resale contract for Animal Kingdom Lodge. They handled our purchase so well and were accessible for any of our questions we had while purchasing those points.

Most DVC rentals don’t come with any kind of refund policy—you’re usually on your own to buy trip insurance once you rent DVC points. I totally get why, though. Managing so many DVC accounts with their different “use years” and the whole banking and borrowing process can get complicated fast (and if that sounds like a foreign language, trust me, it is! That’s just the DVC way of booking).

But that’s exactly why I’m so excited about renting through the DVC Rental Store. Unlike other DVC rental options, they actually offer super flexible cancellation policies, which can be a lifesaver if plans change—something we all know happens, especially when planning a big Disney trip!

Their first option is the Stress-Free Cancellation Policy, which comes standard with every booking at no extra cost. If something unexpected comes up, you won’t lose out completely. Instead, you’ll get credits to use for a future DVC rental, and the best part? You’ve got two whole years to use them! The credit amount depends on how early you cancel and how much you’ve already paid, giving you plenty of flexibility.

If you’d prefer the option of getting some cash back instead of credits, there’s the Cashback Protection Policy. For a small fee, this lets you cancel and get a portion of your payment refunded directly to your original payment method. The closer you are to your travel date, the smaller the refund, but it’s a great option for anyone who’d rather have money in hand.

With these two policies in place, I always feel secure when booking through DVC Rental Store—knowing I’ve got options no matter what life throws my way!

Why Should I Rent DVC Points?

Renting DVC points is one of the smartest ways to enjoy a deluxe Disney resort stay at a fraction of the cost! By renting points from Disney Vacation Club members, you get access to some of Disney’s most sought-after resorts, like the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, or Animal Kingdom Lodge, without paying the full price tag. It’s a fantastic way to experience the magic and luxury of Disney accommodations while saving hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars compared to booking directly through Disney. Plus, with the added flexibility of rental companies like DVC Rental Store, you can enjoy peace of mind with their cancellation policies, making it easier to plan your dream Disney vacation without the hefty price

Differences in DVC Rooms and Resort Rooms at Deluxe Resorts

Bay Lake Tower - Two Bedroom Suite 2nd Bedroom - Mickey Contemporary Theme

Main Tower 5th Sleeper Room - Incredibles Theme

DVC rooms have a few key differences from regular Disney resort rooms that you’ll want to keep in mind. For starters, housekeeping only comes on days four and eight of your stay, so they’re not serviced daily like the standard resort rooms. Another distinction is the theming. DVC rooms often don’t match the main resort’s theme exactly. For example, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the main tower rooms are Mid-Century Modern with an Incredibles theme, while the DVC rooms at Bay Lake Tower sport an '80s Modern Disney vibe. Similarly, at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the standard rooms are Moana-themed, while the DVC rooms feature a fun Hawaiian Mickey theme.

Even the amenities differ! Every DVC studio room comes equipped with a refrigerator, usually a dorm-sized one, and if you're staying in a one-bedroom villa or larger, you’ll enjoy a full kitchen with a cooktop, pots, pans, and all the essentials.

One major perk for DVC guests is access to the exclusive DVC Community Halls, offering a variety of activities and spaces to relax—something you won’t find if you’re staying in regular resort rooms!

How Far in Advance Can I book a DVC Room?

DVC owners can book their reservations up to 11 months in advance, so if you have your heart set on a specific resort or dates—especially around peak times like the holidays—it’s best to put in your request 12 to 11 months ahead of time. This is key if you're hoping to snag those hard-to-get spots at popular resorts like Wilderness Lodge or the Grand Floridian.

That said, the DVC Rental Store constantly has new reservations popping up, so it’s always worth submitting a request and checking their availability. Many DVC owners change their plans last minute or can’t use their points, so they put their reservations up for rent. Keep an eye on the site—you never know when a prime booking might become available!

How to Rent DVC points from DVC Rental Store?

There are two ways to book through DVC Rental Store. You can view their reservations with dates and resorts already confirmed and booked. If you do not see a DVC Rental that fits your schedule, you can put in a request for the dates and the resorts.

Last minute trip, no problem! You can sometimes you can find the best deals on last minute trips! Finding rates as low as $15 per point for rentals.

If you are interested in budgeting how many points you need for specific resort DVC Rental Store has a points calculator that can help you budget for your trip.

Payment

Another reason I love DVC Rental Store is that you do not have to pay in full to book! That is a considerable relief for many families who do not have a couple of thousands of dollars to pay upfront. It is nice to put a deposit down and pay in little increments of pay in bulk 75 days before the vacation.

So here are your steps…

  1. Check Availability

  2. Submit your request a security deposit ($100)

  3. Sign Documents and Submit the initial payment (The initial payment is equal to 25% of your total cost minus your $100 security deposit)

  4. Pay your remaining 75% balance NO LATER than 75 days before your arrival. Any reservations that are made under 75 days will require full payment.

  5. Head to Disney!!!

Customer Service

The one thing that I am so impressed with is the customer service line. DVC Rental Store has customer service from 9 am - 9 pm every weekday and 10 am - 5 pm EST on weekend, call 1-855-382-7368. If you get stuck or you are in a bind with your DVC rental you will have a number that you can call to help you out. Feeling secure that you will always have someone to speak to if something goes wrong with your Disney Vacation

Finance your stay with Bread Pay!

A major benefit of booking your Walt Disney World vacation through the official website is the flexibility to secure your room with just a $200 deposit and pay the remaining balance over time. This essentially allows you to "finance" your trip with ease. Many Disney Vacation Club (DVC) rental companies require full payment upfront. However, the DVC rental store offers a fantastic alternative by partnering with Bread Pay, providing flexible monthly payment options. With no prepayment penalties and interest rates starting at 0% APR, you can finance your DVC rental over 3, 6, or 12 months for purchases ranging from $50 to $10,000. This makes financing your dream Disney vacation more accessible and affordable, offering yet another great reason to consider booking through the DVC Rental Store.

I'm a DVC Member, How Do I Rent Out My Points?

If you’re a DVC member looking to rent out your points, you can register register as a member with DVC Rental Store and earn up to $18 per point. If you're planning to rent your points well in advance, simply reach out to them and let them know your availability. However, if you need to rent out points quickly—say within the next 30 days—it’s best to go ahead and book the reservation yourself. Then, provide the DVC Rental Store with the reservation details. Since it can be harder to find availability at the last minute, having a reservation already booked increases your chances of renting it out successfully.

Important Tips for Renting DVC Points

Here are some important tips to keep in mind when renting Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points, ensuring your reservation goes smoothly:

DVC Rental Store Post by Jessica Mickelson
  1. Know Who Will Be in Your Room Before Booking: When you rent DVC points, you must provide the names of all guests staying in your room. While this is typically easy when it’s just your immediate family, it becomes more complicated if you're planning a trip with extended family or booking a larger room, like a two-bedroom villa. The owner renting out the points will enter these names, and once the booking is confirmed, they cannot be changed. Make sure you have everyone’s names finalized before booking.

I learned this lesson the hard way during my 40th birthday trip when I rented two DVC rooms. One guest wasn’t sure if they were coming, so they weren’t on the initial reservation. We ended up switching who slept in which room, and it caused a mix-up with room keys. While we could exchange room keys for access, the guests with the wrong room assignments couldn’t use their Key to the World cards as park tickets, which would have been possible if the room assignments had been correct.

  2. Book Only When You Are Ready: When you decide to rent through the DVC Rental Store, you need to be 100% ready to book. Once you confirm your reservation details with the DVC owner, you’ll need to make a deposit within the specified timeframe to secure your reservation. This is especially important for last-minute bookings, as reservations can fill up quickly. Be prepared to finalize all details, including payment, at the time of booking.

  3. Pay Close Attention to Emails from the DVC Rental Store: The DVC Rental Store sends important emails containing instructions, payment schedules, and other key details about your reservation. It’s essential to read these emails thoroughly to avoid missing any deadlines or necessary information. These communications are critical to ensuring that your rental process goes smoothly.

  4. Be Flexible with Dates: If you're flexible, you can often find better deals or availability, especially during less busy times. This can give you more options for securing the best resort and rates.

By following these tips, you can ensure a stress-free DVC point rental experience and enjoy your Disney vacation without any surprises!

A Review of DVC Rental Store

I never endorse a company without using them first, and I’ve had the chance to rent through DVC Rental Store on two different occasions. My first rental was a two-bedroom suite at Saratoga Springs, which I booked about seven months in advance. The whole process was incredibly smooth—from filling out the forms to making payments, everything was straightforward and easy. I also had access to my online account, which made tracking payments and details seamless.

Then came my second rental, a last-minute studio at Boulder Ridge. This one was a bit trickier—not because of the DVC Rental Store, but because I missed a few crucial emails. Since it was so last minute, I almost lost my reservation. Thankfully, their customer service team stepped in and helped me out, saving my $100 deposit and securing my room. That experience taught me a lot about the importance of staying on top of things when renting last minute, and it’s why I can now confidently tell you how the process works, so you don’t make the same mistake I did!

I’ve rented points early and at the last minute, and I’ve also rented out my own points. At one point, I was about to lose 20 points within 30 days and decided to rent them out to make a little money. That’s when I learned about the owner rental process and how important it is to act quickly if you’re close to your points expiring.

After using DVC Rental Store’s services in all these different ways—renting months ahead, booking last minute, and even renting out my own points—I reached out to them and let them know I wanted to work with them. I’ve since been hosted by DVC Rental Store, and I can officially say they’re my top pick for DVC rentals. I even financed my DVC resale through them!
