ProTip For Making the Most of Jollywood Nights

Before we dive into all the holiday fun at Jollywood Nights, there are a few key things that can make a big difference in your party experience! First off, if you have a ticket to Jollywood Nights, you won’t need a separate park ticket or reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios that day. Your party ticket lets you enter as early as 6 PM, even though the event itself kicks off later in the evening.

Here’s my best advice—especially if you’re bringing little ones or just want to keep your own energy up for all the festive fun. Skip the parks during the day! It’s tempting to try and squeeze in every bit of Disney magic, but if you or anyone in your group tends to get tired by evening, doing a full park day before Jollywood Nights can be overwhelming.

Our go-to routine is simple but perfect: We start the morning by relaxing by the pool or exploring our resort, soaking up a little downtime before all the excitement ahead. Then, in the afternoon, we enjoy an early, hearty dinner (trust me, you’ll want room for all the delicious treats at the party!). After that, we get dressed in our holiday best, adding in a touch of retro or glam for Jollywood, and by 6 PM, we’re ready to head to the party recharged and in the spirit!

This approach lets us pace ourselves, keeps everyone feeling festive, and sets us up to soak in every magical moment, all the way until the very last holiday song or light show. So, give yourself a chance to rest up during the day, save your energy, and get ready to step into the glitz and glamour of Disney Jollywood Nights! Jollywood Nights runs from 7:30 pm - 12:30 pm.

Who should go to Jollywood Nights?

Jollywood Nights is the perfect event for anyone who loves the unique blend of old Hollywood glamour and festive holiday magic. If you’re a fan of Disney’s classic Christmas charm but want something with a bit of vintage sparkle, this party delivers! It’s especially great for adults and teens who are looking for a fresh take on Disney’s holiday offerings, complete with live jazz at the Tip Top Club, a Nightmare Before Christmas show, and swanky seasonal cocktails. Families with kids who want something beyond traditional holiday parades will love the Pixar Disco, where characters bring a playful energy, and the Muppets Christmas carol sing-along, which adds just the right touch of nostalgia. This event is ideal if you’re looking for unique entertainment, low wait times on top rides, and a more relaxed, immersive experience without the typical holiday crowds. Jollywood Nights offers an elevated yet fun atmosphere that’s both magical and memorable, perfect for making holiday memories that are a bit outside the usual Disney box.

Get Ready for Jollywood Nights: Tips for a Smooth and Memorable Evening

Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a special after-hours event that captures all the charm of vintage Hollywood glamour, wrapped in holiday spirit. Here’s how to make the most of your experience so you can enjoy every festive moment!

Arrive Early for Extra Magic

While Jollywood Nights is an after-hours event, guests are typically allowed to enter Hollywood Studios a few hours before the official start time. Arriving early—around 5:30 p.m.—lets you beat the lines, check in smoothly, and maybe even catch a few rides before the main event starts. Wristbands are distributed at the entrance for guests specifically attending the party, and if you’re already in the park, you can visit designated wristband stations to quickly get set up for the evening's exclusive festivities.

Plan a Relaxing Day for a Fun-Filled Night

If you’re attending Jollywood Nights with kids, especially younger ones, skip the parks during the day. Instead, enjoy a restful morning by the pool, have a leisurely afternoon, and indulge in an early, hearty dinner to fuel up for the night. After relaxing, you can dress in your best festive or retro-themed outfits and arrive at the park early, around 6 p.m., without feeling rushed or exhausted. This way, your kids (and you!) have energy for all the evening’s fun without tiring out.

Dress for the Occasion

Dressing up for Jollywood Nights really adds to the fun, and I absolutely recommend it! I found a super cute $30 dress on Amazon that fit the old Hollywood glamour vibe perfectly—subtle, stylish, and incredibly comfortable for the entire night. Part of Jollywood Nights’ charm is the chance to embrace that classic, vintage-inspired look. While Disneyland has Dapper Days, Hollywood Studios sets the scene for that same timeless style, and this event brings out the best of old Hollywood glamour.

Consider wearing comfortable yet festive attire that captures the party’s vibe—think classic winter glam or retro flair. And don’t forget a light jacket or sweater for those cooler evening temperatures.

How to Plan Your Night at Jollywood Nights

To make the most of Jollywood Nights, taking a few minutes to decide which events are top priorities for your group can truly make or break the experience. With all the special shows, character meet-and-greets, parties, and themed lounges, there’s so much to do that it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and feel overwhelmed. Start by talking through everyone’s “must-do” list, since what stands out for adults may be very different from what kids want.

For families with kids, attractions like the Muppets Christmas carol sing-along and the Pixar Disco are absolute highlights. The Muppets show is packed with holiday charm, while the Pixar Disco is lively and full of familiar characters—perfect for kids who want to sing, dance, and laugh. If those are top priorities, it’s smart to get to them early when kids are full of energy and can enjoy the festive fun without feeling rushed.

For adults, the mood shifts toward experiences like the Tip Top Club and the Nightmare Before Christmas show, which bring a more sophisticated, unique holiday vibe. The Tip Top Club has a glamorous, vintage jazz theme that transports you right back to the golden age of Hollywood, complete with festive cocktails and live music. Meanwhile, Nightmare Before Christmas fans will love the show’s mix of whimsy and spookiness, which adds a totally different feel to the evening. If these are your main draws, they’re worth hitting right from the start, as they set an amazing tone for the night.

After everyone has checked off their top picks, you can ease into the rest of the party and enjoy the atmosphere at your own pace. By prioritizing your must-sees, you’ll make sure everyone walks away with their favorite memories, whether they’re thrilling kids or indulging the grown-ups in holiday nostalgia. It’s a little planning up front for a lot of magic throughout the night!

Character Encounters:

I am so excited about the character lineup at Disney Jollywood Nights this year! Last year, they rolled out extra characters on the second night after realizing just how bare the character meet and greets were and how much we all love meeting those rare characters. But this year, they’ve truly hit their stride and loaded up the party with so many fantastic meet-and-greet opportunities—more than 20, in fact! The best part? The characters are spread throughout the entire park, which means there’s more room to explore, and you can actually find your favorites without feeling like everyone’s crowding the same corner.

New Characters for Jollywood Nights 2024
Get ready, because several characters are making their Jollywood Nights debut this year, including:

  • Baloo or King Louie from Talespin, appearing by Echo Lake

  • José Carioca or Panchito from The Three Caballeros at Animation Courtyard (yes, some of the rarest friends from Disney classics!)

  • Bo Peep or Lotso from Toy Story—look for them at the entrance to Toy Story Land

  • The Mandalorian at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (a must for Star Wars fans!)

  • Joy and Sadness from Inside Out at Pixar Place

  • Mike Wazowsji from Monsters Inc.

Returning Fan Favorites
Along with the exciting new additions, some favorites are back this year to bring even more holiday cheer:

  • Phineas and Ferb, Max Goof as Powerline, Rescue Rangers Chip ‘n’ Dale, and Santa Stitch—all bringing the party to Echo Lake

  • Santa Duffy at Santa’s Workshop on Grand Avenue

  • Edna Mode and Frozone from The Incredibles at Pixar Plaza

  • Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, or Pluto near Pixar Plaza

  • And of course, Mickey and Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams on Commissary Lane

With all these amazing characters popping up across the park, there’s a whole new level of magic to discover. I'm especially excited about the character pairs—you get to meet two beloved characters at once, making the wait even more worth it!

Themed Entertainment

Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club

The singer at the Twilight Soiree in the Tip-Top Club is absolutely phenomenal, delivering a fantastic performance that truly transports you to a bygone era. With talented dancers who interact with the crowd, encouraging guests to join in and dance along to the music, this is one experience you don’t want to miss!

The Tip-Top Club itself has a unique backstory: it was an exclusive, unmarked club on the mysterious 13th floor of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, so it’s a fitting nod that Disney brought this part of the party to life with such detail. The band, Rachel and the Alleycats, adds to the immersive experience with their captivating jazz and swing performances.

Themed drinks are available here, adding to the fun. Disney has even revamped the bar operations this year, making service faster and adding more vintage-inspired decor. With drinks priced reasonably at just under $10, the Tip-Top Club is a highlight of the night that combines atmosphere, entertainment, and a bit of history—perfect for getting into the Jollywood spirit!

Pixar Disco

A fantastic new addition this year is how much more kid-friendly Jollywood Nights has become! Last year, I actually recommended leaving the kids at home since there wasn’t much tailored to their entertainment. But Disney took feedback seriously, and they’ve added so many experiences for kids that now families can have a full night of fun together! This event is now a rare chance to meet an amazing number of Pixar and Disney characters in one place—perfect for making magical family memories.

My kids’ love for Pixar really grew after our last Disneyland trip, and the new Pixar-themed dance party at Jollywood Nights brings all that excitement right to Hollywood Studios! Dancing with Joy and Sadness, Edna Mode, Mike Wazowski, and more beloved characters at the Pixar Disco is truly a highlight. It’s such a lively and joyful addition that it’s honestly starting to change my mind about bringing kids along to this event.

Glisten!

One of the most exciting new additions this year is the ice-skating show set up right on Hollywood Boulevard, near the Chinese Theater! This dazzling performance takes place several times throughout the evening and brings a much-needed extra show to the event lineup. It’s perfect for kids and adults alike and is sure to be a highlight if you’re looking for more over-the-top entertainment.

Prepare to be absolutely captivated! This year’s show features world-class skaters who perform breathtaking routines, bringing the magic of the holidays to life in true Disney style. These international champion skaters glide, spin, and leap across the stage to a vibrant soundtrack that blends original holiday music with beloved Disney classics like “Be Our Guest” and “When You Wish Upon a Star.”

It’s the perfect combination of elegance, festive energy, and Disney enchantment—an absolute must-see for anyone hoping to add a touch of sparkle to their night. Shows are scheduled at 8:15 PM, 9:15 PM, 10:30 PM, 11:15 PM, and 12:15 AM, so be sure to plan time to stop and enjoy it. This is one of those magical moments that makes Disney holiday events so unforgettable!

Holiday Fiesta en la Calle

spice into the holidays, turning Hollywood Studios into a lively, festive block party. The energy is off the charts, with music, dancing, and the most vibrant holiday decor—it feels like you’ve stepped right into a Latin holiday celebration! And the food and drinks? Delicious! They’ve got all these fun, Latin-inspired treats and cocktails that just add to the vibe. It’s festive, fun, and totally different from anything else Disney’s doing for the season, which makes it feel extra special. If you’re looking for a holiday event with a little twist, Holiday Fiesta en La Calle definitely delivers!

Disney Holidays in Hollywood (Theater of the Stars)

Disney Holidays in Hollywood is a spirited holiday show that brings music, dancing, and beloved Disney characters together in a spectacular celebration. Hosted by the iconic Kermit the Frog and the fabulous Miss Piggy, the show feels like a throwback to a 1950s variety show, complete with fun "commercial breaks" that add to the nostalgic charm. The performance is held at the Theater of the Stars and features appearances from a star-studded lineup, including Tiana, Belle, Minnie Mouse, and Mickey Mouse, each bringing their own special brand of holiday cheer. The characters are accompanied by a talented cast of singers, dancers, and live jazz musicians who fill the theater with toe-tapping tunes, breathtaking choreography, and festive melodies. The show is a delightful blend of humor, heartwarming moments, and dazzling entertainment that is sure to appeal to both children and adults. The lively jazz music and whimsical performances capture the magic of the season, making it an unforgettable experience for families.

The show runs approximately 30 minutes and is performed four times throughout the night: 8:15 PM, 9:15 PM, 11:15 PM, and 12:15 AM. With multiple showtimes available, there’s plenty of flexibility for families to enjoy the performance without feeling rushed. The 1950s variety show style is enhanced by playful "commercial breaks" during the performance, adding to the retro feel of the event and giving the audience a chance to catch their breath between the high-energy holiday moments. Families will enjoy seeing their favorite Disney characters in festive holiday outfits, and the combination of live jazz music and Disney storytelling creates a holiday atmosphere that everyone will appreciate. Arriving early to secure good seats is recommended, and those who opt for the later shows at 11:15 PM or 12:15 AM may enjoy a more relaxed experience with fewer crowds. As with all Disney events, entertainment is subject to change, so it’s always a good idea to check the My Disney Experience app for the latest information. Whether you’re looking for nostalgia, music, or holiday magic, Disney Holidays in Hollywood offers the perfect way to immerse yourself in the season and create lasting memories with your family.

Echo Lake 1990s & 2000s Nostalgia

Echo Lake at Disney Jollywood Nights is a 90s and 2000s fan's dream come true, bringing together an impressive lineup of rare and beloved characters from that era. Visitors can snap photos with a variety of fan favorites, including Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Max Goof as Powerline, Phineas and Ferb, Baloo from The Jungle Book, and Clarice. These classic characters are rarely seen in the parks, making Echo Lake the perfect spot for nostalgic moments. Whether you grew up with A Goofy Movie, the Rescue Rangers, or the iconic Disney afternoon shows, this area is a must-see for fans of 90s and 2000s Disney magic.

Flavors Specialty Food & Drinks:

If you're heading to Jollywood Nights, trust me—come hungry! With an incredible lineup of holiday treats, Disney has truly gone all out this year. First up, the Holiday Turkey Popover is an absolute must-try. Imagine roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy nestled in a warm popover, all topped with a tangy cranberry chutney. It’s the holiday dinner we all crave, wrapped up in a hand-held treat! And for something savory with a twist, try the Just the Sides Popover. With mac and cheese, collard greens, and a sprinkle of cornbread crumbs, it’s a playful, comforting bite that’s sure to keep you fueled for a night full of festivities.

On the sweeter side, dessert fans will love the Christmas Gertie Cookie—it’s a classic with just the right touch of holiday magic. But if you’re after a drink with a bit of sparkle, the Mistletoe Martini is calling your name. Made with Tito’s Vodka, elderflower liqueur, and cranberry juice, it’s festively garnished with cranberries and mint for that perfect holiday vibe. And don’t skip the PB&J Doughnut for something fun and nostalgic: it’s a peanut butter and jelly-filled doughnut dipped in dark chocolate and served with salt-and-vinegar chips for a surprising sweet-and-savory combo. With these treats in hand, you’ll be fully set to enjoy the glitz and glamour of Jollywood Nights in true holiday style!

Jazzy Holidays at The Hollywood Brown Derby:

The Hollywood Brown Derby is one of the classiest spots in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and stepping inside feels like you’re back in Hollywood’s Golden Age. Once, guests could even get “agent calls” right at the table—how cool is that? While those little touches are gone, a jazzy holiday evening at the Brown Derby is the perfect way to experience Jollywood Nights with a splash of Hollywood glamour.

Disney made some changes this year that I think are a big upgrade. Instead of last year’s first-come, first-serve seating where you had to line up early to snag one of the limited spots, you can now make a dining reservation ahead of time, which is so much better! It’s still on the pricier side, but with its signature dishes like the famous Cobb Salad and an incredible atmosphere, it’s a great pick if you’re looking for a refined start to the night.

If you’re with kids, though, I’d probably skip it. This experience feels more suited to adults, especially with the live music—a talented pianist and singer serenading guests, giving it that charming old-school vibe. It’s not a full jazz band, but trust me, it sets the mood beautifully. So, if you’re after a cozy, classy kickoff for Jollywood Nights, this is the spot!

Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!

I have a special place in my heart for Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Ever since I saw it the first time, long before the pandemic, this holiday show instantly became a seasonal must-see. There's just something so nostalgic and whimsical about it! The mix of holiday magic, fireworks, and the storyline with Prep & Landing elves trying to save Christmas is pure Disney magic—it’s the perfect way to ring in the holiday season.

In 2018, I was excited to make the experience even sweeter by booking the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Dessert Party for our family. Imagine it: themed holiday treats, festive drinks, and a reserved spot to see the show up close. But, like many plans that sound perfect with little ones, it didn’t quite go as expected. Just as we were getting settled, all of my kids reached their limit—excitement, exhaustion, you name it—and we ended up making an early exit. So close, yet so far!

Even though that particular night didn’t go as planned, I still love the show. There’s something incredibly heartwarming about the projections and fireworks lighting up the Chinese Theater facade with beloved holiday scenes and characters. It’s one of those classic Disney holiday shows that I hope stays around for years because, despite any hiccups or missed dessert parties, Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! always brings the magic!

Prep & Landing is hands-down one of our all-time favorite Christmas movies! It's become a tradition in our house to watch it every year, no exceptions. There's something so fun and clever about the story of these two elves, Wayne and Lanny, prepping for Santa’s big night. The kids love it, and honestly, so do we—it's one of those rare holiday specials that entertains everyone, grown-ups included.

So, seeing Wayne and Lanny come to life in Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! at Disney World makes it even more special. It’s like bringing a piece of our family tradition to life, right in the middle of Hollywood Studios. The storyline of these two elves racing against the clock to save Christmas, projected on the Chinese Theater with fireworks, music, and holiday cheer—it’s pure Disney magic. Every time we’re there for the holidays, it feels like a little bit of home on screen.

Specialty Merchandise:

This year, Disney’s rolled out a fun, exclusive collection featuring Ollie, their brand-new gingerbread man character just for Jollywood Nights. You’ll only find these goodies at the Stage 1 Company Store (aka the old Muppets gift shop) during the event, so if you’re hoping to bring home some festive Disney swag, this is your spot!

Some of the highlights? There's a cozy Spirit Jersey featuring Ollie himself, perfect for that winter Disney look, and an adorable holiday mug that’s just begging to be filled with hot cocoa. The exclusive lineup also includes a stylish crossbody bag by LUG and a limited-edition pin to commemorate the season. While Ollie takes the spotlight this year, the merch still has that nostalgic Disney charm we loved from last year, and maybe we'll see some nods to Gertie and the Muppets next season—here’s hoping!

Rides & Attractions:

One of the wildest things about Jollywood Nights is that nobody seems to be there for the rides! The party itself is so much fun and totally all-consuming that most people are too busy soaking in the entertainment, themed cocktails, and the incredible atmosphere. I mean, Rise of the Resistance had a wait time of five minutes—that never happens! It’s the perfect time to jump on some of those popular rides without the usual lines. If you’re looking to ride attractions like Tower of Terror or Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you could practically walk on. The only exception was Slinky Dog Dash, and honestly, that wait felt a little inflated, probably because it’s Slinky! But overall, Jollywood Nights gives you the best of both worlds: an incredible party atmosphere and a chance to hit those crowd-favorite rides with next to no wait.

Adults Only Guide

If you’re looking for a detailed review and itinerary from an adult-only perspective, I’ve written a blog titled A Complete Review of Jollywood Nights. This review is based on attending the second-ever party, even before many of the wonderful additions were introduced. Interestingly, our approach would remain mostly the same if we weren’t bringing our kids. You can read that blog post here!

Family-Friendly Jollywood Nights Plan for Families with Young Kids

This schedule balances excitement and relaxation so families can enjoy Jollywood Nights at Disney's Hollywood Studios without feeling overwhelmed. From preparation to closing out the night, this plan ensures everyone has fun while accounting for the unique needs of young children.

Afternoon Prep (Before the Event)

1:00 PM - Midday Nap/Rest

  • Encourage both kids and adults to rest. A nap will help little ones stay energized, and adults will appreciate the extra stamina for the late-night festivities.

3:30 PM - Early Dinner

  • Enjoy a hearty meal at your resort or a nearby quick-service location. This reduces the need for large meals during the event so you can focus on treats and attractions. Some good options include pizza at the resort food court or dining at a family-friendly sit-down restaurant like Trattoria al Forno at the BoardWalk.

Arrival and Early Evening (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM)

5:30 PM - Arrive at Hollywood Studios

  • Plan for traffic or transportation delays. Arriving early allows for a relaxed pace, even if there’s a line to enter.

6:00 PM - Pick Up Event Wristbands

  • Collect your wristbands and check event-specific locations to get them. Use this time to explore Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd for magical family photos with holiday-themed backdrops.

6:30 PM - Early Character Meet & Greets

  • Prioritize high-demand characters like Santa Stitch, Santa Duffy, or Mickey and Minnie in holiday outfits. The earlier you arrive at these lines, the less waiting you’ll experience later in the night.

Event Kickoff (7:30 PM - 9:00 PM)

7:30 PM - Grab Some Snacks

  • Head to a nearby snack kiosk for event-exclusive treats, such as themed cookies, churros, or hot cocoa. Let the kids choose a treat to make the evening feel even more special.

7:45 PM - Pixar Place Holiday Disco Party

  • This lively event is perfect for families. Kids can dance with characters like Mike and Sulley while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

8:15 PM - Disney Holidays in Hollywood (Theater of the Stars)

  • Enjoy a holiday-themed show that blends music, storytelling, and fun. It’s a great break for kids who might need to sit and relax for a bit.

Late Night Fun (9:15 PM - Close)

9:15 PM - Glisten! Show

  • Head to Echo Lake to watch this dazzling spectacle featuring lights and music. It’s an excellent option to recapture some energy after downtime at the theater.

10:00 PM - Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Fireworks

  • Cap off your evening with this high-energy fireworks and projection show. Find a spot on Hollywood Blvd or near Echo Lake for a clear view.

Post-Show (10:30 PM - Close)

  • Check in with the kids: If little ones are sleeping in strollers, split up so some family members can continue exploring. Parents with awake kids might opt for:

    • Character Meet & Greets: Lines for popular characters often shorten later in the event.

    • Attractions with Low Waits: Take advantage of the low crowd levels for rides like Toy Story Mania! or Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Slinky Dog Dash may still have a longer wait but will likely be manageable.

    • The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along: This fun and interactive show is a hit for families with slightly older kids.

Tips for Success

  • Pack for Comfort: Bring snacks, water, and a blanket for little ones in strollers. A festive light-up toy or glow stick can help keep toddlers entertained in dark areas.

  • Dress for the Weather: November and December nights can be chilly in Florida. Layers are key!

  • Be Flexible: Listen to your kids’ cues. If they’re tired, prioritize what matters most to your family—whether it’s the shows, characters, or rides.

By keeping the schedule flexible and focused on family-friendly fun, you can make Jollywood Nights a magical experience for all ages!
