Strolling through Disney: Disney Stroller Tips

You are HERE! So you have either decided you need a stroller, or you know you need a stroller, and now you need ALL the details!

Let’s start with what I bring to the parks. If we are doing a Rope Drop to Extended Hours a day at the parks, I bring my Baby Jogger® City Mini® GT All-Terrain Stroller, my Baby Jogger® City Mini® GT All-Terrain Double Stroller and my Líllébaby® Carryon Airflow Toddler Carrier. Our day could be 12 - 13 hours, depending on which park we are going to, so I make sure I have everything for carrying once everyone has fallen asleep.

Disney Rules regarding strollers:

  • Strollers larger than 31” (79 cm) in width and 52” (132cm) in length are not permitted. Stroller wagons are also not allowed. (But you saw a wagon. There are medically necessary exceptions to this rule, and they must approve them before arrival.)

  • Strollers are not allowed on escalators. Strollers are permitted on elevators and ramps, available at certain locations.

  • A child must be removed from their stroller while riding on a parking lot tram.

  • Do not leave personal belongings in an unattended stroller. (we take out wallets and leave the rest.)

  • A Cast Member may move strollers due to operational needs.

On my stroller, you will find:

  • Family Name Tag (We had one made in 2017, and it's been amazing to have every trip, it stays in our DVC locker in Florida.)

  • Mommy Hook

  • Stroller Caddy/Cupholder

  • We always take out Disney drawstring bags ( I will explain more later under transportation.)

  • Rain Cover

  • Large retractable visor

  • Reclines for naps

  • Baby/Toddler Carrier (with four kids, sometimes even the oldest is exhausted and needs a break. Or the baby wants to be held. Now I have upgraded to a toddler carrier, and I can put the baby on my back if I need too!)

We used to bring stroller trays, but they get in the way and are not necessary. Sometimes we bring the bar, but not always.

We always prefer to bring our stroller since we specifically bought these strollers years ago because they are the best for the Disney Parks.

Best Disney Parks Strollers

I have TWO favorite park strollers, Baby Jogger City Minis & Bob. (Exceptions: If you have an older child and want an umbrella stroller, you can survive on those, also the baby car seat collapsible snap-ins!) Numerous strollers would work. If your stroller can do all I have listed below, you should be fine!

  1. Maneuverability - It needs to be able to go, sometimes with umbrella strollers, they shake your hands a lot or are too long. You want it to be a comfortable push since you will constantly push your stroller for 4 - 7 days.

  2. Collapsibility - It needs to collapse quickly. It needs to be able to bend in half. People can be very unkind while waiting for someone to unload a stroller. Disney Transportation requires a collapsed stroller on all buses. Also, the Disney Skyliner will require you to collapse double strollers. The City Mini is the BEST as it is a single-handle pull. The Bob works because it can fold half-decently small even with the basket filled. This is also nice for your resort room so that you can put it away at the end of the night.

  3. Storage - you want to put items in your basket and have a place for your drinks, hand sanitizers, and wipes! See the Ultimate Park Bag!

  4. This is your friendly reminder that wagons are not ALLOWED at Disney all unless pre-approved for a medical reason.

Stroller Rentals

You have a stroller and do not want to bring it, or maybe it's a stroller you feel is not the best fit for the parks. I have owned EVERY stroller known to man, I still also own an  Uppa Baby Vista, and I believe its probably the greatest stroller of all times, but after you have ONE child, its a HORRIBLE stroller for the parks, all because of having to collapse it at the end of the night with two seats. Same with Bugaboo and many others. Great for one child, and terrible once you hit two kids.

Here are a few stroller companies that I have either used, or I have friends that have used that have great reviews. These companies will also deliver to your Disney Resort.

Kingdom Strollers

Orlando Stroller Rentals

Magic Strollers are currently not delivering onsite, but their pick-up location is between MCO and Disney. They are the people who provide DVC lockers to resorts. We have used them, and if you have a car and are driving in and can pick them up, they are WONDERFUL!

Renting a Stroller from Walt Disney World

Disney has newly reimagined strollers that I think look so CUTE! They are not the best for napping, and they have limited drink storage on the back and a few pockets. They also do not have a big basket.

Disney Rentals

This is an excellent option if you have one child between the ages of 5 - 10 and are okay with carrying your bags because there is limited storage. This was a one-on-one trip with my daughter, so I was not going to bring a stroller for her at age seven but planned to rent one at the parks.

✨Storage✨
2 cup holders and a back pocket
You need a rain cover for the Stroller as they are not provided

✨Single Stroller✨
Recommended for children 50 lbs. or less.
* Daily: $15
* Multi-Day (Length of Stay): $13

✨Double Stroller✨
Recommended for children 100 lbs. or less.
* Daily: $31
* Multi-Day (Length of Stay): $27
At Disney Springs, a $100 credit card deposit is required.

✨Length of Stay Rental✨
You do save money when you pre-pay for your rental. Purchase a Length of Stay rental ticket for less per day when rented for multiple days. Keep your receipt at the Stroller rental location, you will show it to them, and they will give you another stroller for the day.

✨Stroller Return and Replacement✨
You must return the strollers to the rental location at the night’s end.

✨Stroller Replacement✨
Strollers cannot be removed from the parks. You will return your Stroller and then pick up another stroller from their rental facility at the next park.

Also, if you misplace your Stroller, replacements are available with a receipt at various locations throughout the Resort, based on availability.

Stroller in the Parks

Ten Tips for Strollers at Disney World

  1. This is your final reminder, anything that LOOKS like a wagon, even if it looks like a stroller with a wagon base, YOU CAN NOT BRING IT. I have watched people try to bring in those stroller wagons that are fancy-looking and get turned away.

  2. Bring a rain cover. It rains a lot in Florida; it rained in January, rained in March, rain in August, and is always raining.

  3. You will have to use Stroller Parking for rides, attractions & dining. You will see the signs everywhere that say Stroller Parking. Also, the cast members WILL move your stroller. Do not freak out. They keep them moving to create room in the stroller parking areas.

  4. If you rent a stroller, keep the receipt. If your stroller is lost, it can be replaced at no charge if you have the ticket or receipt for that day (Disney Rental Only.)

  5. Watch out for pedestrians - especially on those super crowded days. Like you are driving a car on American roads, keep to the right.

  6. If you do not want your stroller for the parade, you can park it at a stroller parking area and walk over.

  7. There are special needs strollers available at the rental locations I listed above. Get pre-approval for Medically needed wagons, and get a DAS pass if you need it.

  8. Make sure your stroller is within the regulation size listed above.

  9. Stroller locks are not permitted. In the ten years of going as a parent, I have never had a stroller stolen at Walt Disney World. I did have a stroller stolen at Disneyland Paris. So it is possible, but HIGHLY unlikely.

  10. If you decide at the 11th hour you need a stroller, and all are rented out, Baby Care Centers sell them at the park.
