I remember feeling overwhelmed planning my first trip as a parent of a 18 month old back in 2012. Disney is different as a parent, and you want to make the trip perfect. I have been a Disney kid since 1992! So I remember it as a child, teen, adult and now I know Disney as a parent. So let’s start from the beginning.

Before we get started, I always recommend using a Disney planner. They are free to you and can help you set up a fantastic itinerary. However, the key to enjoying Disney is having a basic understanding of the parks, having realistic expectations set, and doing your own research. That way, you can better communicate what you would like to accomplish during your time at the park having a basic idea of how Disney works and what it has to offer. If you enjoy a little challenge and want to control your destiny and plan your trip, Well Hello Disney can also help you achieve that.  Let me help you streamline that process.

The Basics:

  1. There are four separate theme parks and two water parks at Walt Disney World, an outdoor shopping area, and a sports complex. Your theme parks are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are your two water parks. Disney Springs is your themed dining, retail, and entertainment center and ESPN Wide World of Sports is the sports complex.

  2. Accommodations - there are so many options on and off the property. Your budget will determine where you stay and the experience that you want. There are value option resorts at WDW, so consider staying on the property because you believe it will be more expensive. There are over 26 Disney Resorts Collection Hotels, 3 Marriott hotels, and 1 military hotel, ALL on Disney property. I am. Disney vacation club member, so we regularly stay on Disney property. Our family has stayed at every single resort on the property and can help you determine the best one for you.

  3. Focus - I will help you learn to focus your energy on experiences that speak directly to you and your family. Not into princesses? Skip ALL things princess. Do you want the complete Star Wars experience? Hollywood studios, here we come! Do you want to experience classic Disney? Fantasyland is the place to be! Narrowing your focus makes for a much more enjoyable trip. Remember, Disney World is the size of San Francisco, so it will be essential to go with a plan and strategy to enjoy your Disney Vacation.

  4. Budget - You have to set one and make it realistic. But just like a home renovation, set a 10% buffer in your budget. I will share all the cost-saving tips I have learned along the way!

So now you have my four basic places to start with Disney planning. If you feel overwhelmed, do not worry! Well Hello Disney has a self-paced Disney course that covers every aspect of Walt Disney World. You will be 100% confident in navigating the parks and the plan you set for your family. You will learn to problem solve at the parks, become a Genie+ expert, and create memories for a lifetime with minimal stress. The whole reason I started this blog was to help parents minimize stress and learn to navigate the parks. If you are ready to jump into planning, sign up for the course today!
