How to Order Groceries to your Disney Resort

Updated October 2024

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World is a thrilling adventure, filled with excitement and anticipation. With so much to see and do, you might not want to waste precious park time shopping for groceries or snacks. Thankfully, several companies offer grocery delivery services directly to Disney resorts, allowing you to stock up on essentials without leaving the comfort of your room. Also, remember you are allowed to bring food into the parks. When we were young one of our cost saving measures was to pack lunches and small meals to reduce the cost of buying food at the park. You can set up a picnic in the castle hub grass area and enjoy the view of Cinderella Castle while having lunch and it makes it so special for the kids!

Why Consider Grocery Delivery?

  1. Cost Savings: Buying snacks, breakfast items, or drinks can significantly cut down on food expenses, especially for larger families.

  2. Convenience: Skip the hassle of finding a grocery store and carrying groceries back to your resort. Everything you need is delivered right to your door.

  3. Dietary Needs: If you have special dietary requirements or picky eaters, having your preferred foods delivered ensures everyone is happy and well-fed.

  4. Healthier Options: Having fresh fruits, veggies, and other healthy snacks on hand can help balance out the delicious, but often indulgent, park fare.

Disney World Grocery Stores

RESORT LOBBY & QUICK SERVICE LOCATIONS

Every hotel within the Disney Resort Collection features a shopping area in the main lobby or Quick Service dining service. These shopping areas will have a refrigerated section and a snack section for your convenience. However, the items available may be priced higher than usual. But you need not worry about running out of essentials, such as milk for your toddler, as you have access to these facilities. It is advisable to check the opening hours by calling the front desk or checking upon arrival since the timings may vary.

INSTACART, GARDEN GROCER, TARGET & more…

I prefer using Instacart and Target for my grocery and supply deliveries. Instacart is great for refrigerated goods and grocery items, and the shopper usually visits Publix, but you can also shop at Costco and other stores. Target offers a good variety of dry snacks, shampoo, conditioner, and similar items. However, Target stores near Walt Disney World are mainly for traveling families and do not have many traditional Target items. You will find mostly groceries, policies, and Disney-themed items there. I often forget something while shopping, so having these options available greatly reduces my stress. Typically, I schedule my Instacart delivery to arrive on the day I arrive AFTER 4 p.m. since that is when check-in begins, and I put the order in 1-2 weeks in advance.

Grocery Store Delivery at Disney World

Instacart

Overview: Instacart offers same-day grocery delivery from various local stores, including Publix, Costco, and ABC Fine Wine & Spirits. This is my preffered method and I almost use it everytime.

  • How It Works: Download the Instacart app or visit their website, select your store, and start shopping. You can choose to have your groceries delivered within a few hours.

  • Delivery Fee: Delivery fees vary depending on the store and the total order amount. There's also an option for Instacart Express, a membership that provides free delivery on orders over $35.

  • Pros: Multiple store options, same-day delivery, and a wide range of products, including alcohol.

  • Cons: Prices may vary from in-store pricing, and some Disney resorts may have restrictions on alcohol delivery.

    • Local Expertise: While Target isn’t exclusively for vacationers, it offers an excellent variety of items, including groceries, snacks, toiletries, and park essentials, making it a versatile option for families in Orlando.

    • Easy Online Ordering: Use the Target app or website to browse and order groceries, household goods, and vacation essentials, with options to filter by categories for easy navigation.

    • Scheduled Delivery: Choose delivery times that suit your needs, from same-day options to scheduled deliveries during your vacation.

    • Special Requests: Target offers easy customization for orders and allows for replacements to ensure your order meets your needs, delivered to resorts or rentals.

Garden Grocer Website for Disney Grocery Delivery

Garden Grocer

Overview: Garden Grocer has been serving Walt Disney World guests for over a decade and is one of the most popular options. They offer a wide selection of groceries, including fresh produce, dairy, snacks, drinks, and even alcohol.

  • How It Works: Place your order online at least 24 hours in advance, though earlier is recommended for best availability. Due to their popularity, you should order about 1 -2 weeks in advance.

  • Delivery Fee: Delivery fees start at $14 for orders under $200, with a minimum order of $40. The fee decreases with larger orders.

  • Pros: Easy-to-navigate website, wide range of products, and reliable service. Garden Grocer also offers discounts for orders placed more than 60 days in advance.

  • Cons: Prices can be higher than typical grocery stores. But service is excellent.

Amazon Fresh/Prime Now

Overview: Amazon Fresh and Prime Now offer quick delivery from Whole Foods Market and other local stores. If you’re an Amazon Prime member, this can be a very convenient option.

  • How It Works: Access Amazon Fresh or Prime Now through the Amazon app or website. Place your order and choose your delivery window.

  • Delivery Fee: Delivery is free for orders over a certain amount, usually $35, but this can vary based on location and availability.

  • Pros: Fast delivery, great selection of organic and specialty items from Whole Foods, and seamless integration with Amazon accounts.

  • Cons: Delivery times can be limited, especially during peak seasons, and some resorts might not accept perishable deliveries if you're not present.

Walmart Grocery Delivery

Overview: Walmart offers grocery delivery directly to Disney resorts, making it a budget-friendly option for guests.

  • How It Works: Use the Walmart Grocery app or website to place your order, and select a delivery window.

  • Delivery Fee: Fees typically start at $7.95 to $9.95, with a minimum order amount of $30.

  • Pros: Competitive pricing and a wide variety of products.

Target Grocery Delivery

  • Delivery Fee: $7.99 for orders under $35; free delivery for orders over $35 with Target membership or RedCard.

  • Pros: Wide selection of groceries and essentials with convenient delivery options and user-friendly shopping.

  • Cons: Delivery fees for smaller orders and potential availability issues, with less local expertise compared to vacation-focused services.

  • Delivery Fee: $14 for orders under $200; free for orders over $200.

  • Pros: Convenient delivery to your accommodation with a wide selection of vacation-friendly groceries.

  • Cons: $14 fee for smaller orders and limited to Orlando-area resorts.

    • Local Expertise: Since they focus solely on vacationers in Orlando, they understand the unique needs of families and groups visiting theme parks. They offer products that are perfect for on-the-go snacking or stocking your vacation rental’s kitchen.

    • Easy Online Ordering: Their website allows you to browse by category, making it easy to find what you need for your trip. They also offer pre-built grocery packages designed for families, couples, or larger groups, making it even simpler to choose your items.

    • Scheduled Delivery: You can schedule deliveries to fit your itinerary, ensuring groceries arrive when it’s most convenient for you—whether it's right before check-in or after you’ve had a long day at the parks.

    • Special Requests: They’re also flexible with custom orders, offering to find specific items not listed on their website, and they deliver to most Orlando resorts, including Walt Disney World resorts and vacation homes. They also will purchase alcohol.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE GROCERIES ARE DELIVERED

When receiving a delivery at a Walt Disney World resort, most resorts accept grocery deliveries at the Bell Services desk. They can store perishable and non-perishable items until you are ready to pick them up. Here are some tips to ensure a smooth delivery:

If you arrange for a grocery delivery while staying at a Disney Resort Collection Hotel, the Cast Members at Bell Services will receive the delivery on your behalf and keep your items safe until you are ready to collect them. This means you won't have to wait for the delivery and can make the most of your day. However, if you order items requiring age verification, you must be present to accept the delivery.

Additionally, any perishable items will be refrigerated upon arrival, so you can order fresh food. Knowing what type of refrigerator is available in your room is important. If you are staying in a Disney Vacation Club Villa that is one bedroom or larger, you may have a mini fridge or cooler fridge in your room.

To collect your items, go to Bell Services and provide them with your name. They will then retrieve your order from the storage area. Alternatively, Bell Services can bring your groceries to your room for a small fee that will be charged to your room account (currently $6, but subject to change). I also tip the Bell Service Cast Member who brings the groceries to my room.

Your delivery driver will request your first and last name so they can be dropped off at Bell Services. Never disclose your room number, as it is unnecessary for delivery and can pose a safety concern.

There may be a $6 charge for holding your groceries at some Moderate and Value Resorts, and you may need to pick them up yourself. It's always a good idea to call the front desk to confirm. This might have been because they were busy when I called for delivery, but I have never had this experience at Deluxe Resorts. However, there is no charge for taking the groceries to your room yourself, so make sure that the $6 is credited if you end up getting them.

STOP AT PUBLIX YOURSELF

You can always stop by the grocery store if you are driving or renting a car. There are several close to Walt Disney World Resort. This will save money on tipping your delivery person, but it takes time when you are anxious to get to your Resort and unpack and relax.

MY GROCERY TIPS

  1. Check Resort Policies: Some resorts may charge a fee for accepting or delivering grocery orders, so check ahead for any extra costs. Most Disney resorts mostly do so verify at check in and some in the surrounding area mat do the same.

  2. Plan Ahead: Schedule your grocery delivery early to secure your preferred time slot, especially during peak seasons.

  3. Consider Meal Prep: If your resort has a kitchenette, order ingredients for easy meals like sandwiches or pasta to save time and money.

  4. Order Essentials: Don’t forget vacation must-haves like water, sunscreen, and snacks to avoid expensive park purchases.

  5. Use Grocery Packages: Opt for themed packages (e.g., family snack packs) to simplify your shopping, but avoid overbuying to prevent leftover groceries.

  6. Pack Snacks for Kids: Even if you plan to buy snacks at the parks, bring some for your kids—especially toddlers who are happier with full bellies.

  7. Cost-Saving Tip: Bring your own meals in a small cooler to save money on lunches at the parks.

  8. Pre-Pack Snacks: Consider individual packs of snacks for convenience or bring resealable bags to portion out larger items for the parks.

Jessica’s Disney Grocery List

This is how I plan for vacations where I only need snacks and a few breakfast items. Most of the time we are eating meals in the park. If you want a detailed list to save some money check at the end of this blog.

  • Each kid has two snacks at the park daily.

  • Toddler: Three snacks at the park per day and one mini meal.

  • Adults: One snack per day at the park.

  • Items for breakfast: Cereal (one box to two boxes MAX)

  • Half Gallon Milk

  • Yogurt/Breakfast Bars

  • One case of water per 4 days (we are a family of 6)

  • Preferred Coffee if I am feeling bougie (some rooms have Keurig/some have regular coffee pots. You can ask your front desk.)

  • Cereal and Milk depending on length of stay

When we stay in a DVC Villa - we plan out what meals we will cook in our room, so our grocery list on those stays looks a little different than in a standard hotel room with only a refrigerator or cooler box. When planning meals to save money, choose dishes that use similar ingredients. For example, we could have spaghetti with meat sauce, tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, or nachos, as they all require some of the same ingredients, reducing waste. We can also pack food to take to the parks for lunch if we're on a tight budget.

How It Works: A Quick Guide to Ordering Groceries

No matter which service you choose, the process of grocery delivery is simple:

  1. Browse & Select: Choose the service you’d like to use and browse the grocery items available. Add products to your virtual cart, keeping in mind any dietary preferences, park snacks, and easy-to-make meals.

  2. Schedule Delivery: Select a delivery window that fits your schedule. For many services, you can arrange for groceries to be delivered right to your hotel or vacation rental’s front desk.

  3. Delivery Day: Most companies will text or email you once your groceries have been delivered. For Disney resorts, groceries can often be held at bell services, where you can pick them up when convenient, or in some cases, they will deliver them directly to your room.

  4. Enjoy Your Vacation: With groceries on hand, you’ll be able to enjoy breakfasts in your room, pack snacks for the parks, or simply have your favorite drinks and snacks ready for when you return from a long day of fun.
