Morimoto Asia Disney Springs Review: Is It Worth the Price?
Tucked within the vibrant and bustling district of Disney Springs, Morimoto Asia offers guests an unforgettable dining experience that blends exquisite Asian cuisine with the creativity and charm synonymous with all things Disney. This upscale Pan-Asian restaurant, founded by the renowned Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, brings together traditional flavors from across Asia and modern culinary techniques, creating a dining destination that appeals to both food enthusiasts and Disney fans alike.
In this blog, we'll take an in-depth look at the guest experience, some of the must-try menu items, how to secure a reservation at this popular spot, a bit of the history behind its famous founder, and why Morimoto Asia should be on your list for your next Disney Springs outing.
The Dining Experience at Morimoto Asia
Walking into Morimoto Asia feels like stepping into a world of contemporary elegance mixed with the rich cultural influences of the East. I've been fortunate to dine at the flagship in Philadelphia, which is a smaller, very sleek, and modern venue, but this was my first time heading to the location at Disney Springs.
The restaurant’s open-concept design, with its high ceilings, exposed beams, and dramatic chandeliers, immediately draws you in and quite frankly begins the excitement of the dining experience.
From the moment you are greeted by the friendly staff to when you take your seat, Morimoto Asia offers impeccable service.
One of the stand-out features of dining at Morimoto Asia is its open kitchen. Guests can watch chefs in action, preparing dishes right before their eyes. This interactive element adds an extra layer of authenticity to the dining experience.
The restaurant has two levels: the main dining area on the ground floor and a more intimate second-floor dining room, which offers stunning views of Disney Springs. For those looking to enjoy a cocktail or two, there’s also a bar area and a sake lounge with an impressive selection of Asian-inspired drinks.
Fan-Favorite Menu Items You Can't Miss
The menu at Morimoto Asia is a journey through Asia’s rich culinary landscape, offering flavors from Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, and beyond. Here are some of the fan-favorite dishes that keep guests coming back for more and I will highlight some Of the items we were fortunate to try during this dining experience.
Pork Egg Rolls
A delightful appetizer that perfectly balances flavor and texture. The crispy exterior gives way to a savory filling of tender pork and fresh cabbage, providing a satisfying crunch with each bite. The apricot sweet chili sauce adds a vibrant touch, offering a sweet and tangy kick that complements the richness of the pork. These egg rolls are a must-try for anyone seeking a delicious start to their meal!
Peking Duck
One of the most celebrated dishes at Morimoto Asia is the Peking Duck. This whole roasted duck is served with soft bao buns, hoisin sauce, and crispy vegetables. The skin is perfectly crispy, and the meat is tender and juicy, creating an unforgettable combination of textures and flavors. It’s no wonder that this dish has become one of the restaurant’s signature offerings.
MoriMoto Spare Rib
Another favorite on the menu is the Morimoto Spare Ribs and mt favorite item of the day. These perfectly cooked ribs are marinated in a rich hoisin chili sauce and then grilled to perfection. The ribs are sticky, sweet, and savory, with a touch of heat that enhances the flavors without overwhelming the palate. A half-rack costs around $30+ while a full rack will set you back about $60+. When I say the meat falls off the bone - the meat literally falls off the bone it was excellent.
Orange Chicken
a delicious twist on a classic favorite. The tempura chicken is crispy yet tender, perfectly complemented by the Chinese broccoli, which adds a nice crunch. The sweet Florida orange sauce brings a bright citrus flavor without being overly sugary, making the dish well-balanced. It’s a standout option for those craving familiar comfort food with a gourmet touch.
Sushi and Sashimi
Chef Morimoto is famous for his sushi, and the sushi and sashimi menu at Morimoto Asia does not disappoint. The fish is always incredibly fresh, and the attention to detail is impeccable. Guests can order individual sushi pieces or go for one of the sushi platters, such as the Chef’s Combination (which features a selection of the chef’s favorite sushi and sashimi) for $50.
The Buri-Bop
We could not leave without try the Buri-Bop. This dish is an exciting take on a traditional Korean bibimbap, made with yellowtail, rice, and a poached egg, all served in a hot clay pot that crisps the rice as it cooks. The Buri-Bop is prepared tableside, adding a theatrical element to the meal. This unique and flavorful dish costs around $42 and is worth every penny for fans of bold flavors.
Dim Sum
For those looking to share a few smaller plates, the Dim Sum menu is a must. Highlights include the Pork Dumplings for $14 and the Shrimp Har-Gao (shrimp dumplings) for $16. Each bite is a perfect mix of delicate flavors, and these dishes pair wonderfully with some of the main courses.
Ramen
On cooler days or for noodle lovers, the Tonkotsu Ramen is a satisfying option. This rich and hearty bowl features a pork broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and melt-in-your-mouth pork belly. For $18, it’s a comforting dish that showcases the culinary skill of the kitchen team.
Sake Sangria
Morimoto Asia offers an impressive drink menu, but one of the most popular cocktails is the Sake Sangria. This refreshing and slightly fruity drink is made with sake, Asian pear, and citrus, offering a unique twist on the classic sangria. It’s priced at around $15 per glass, and many guests find it pairs well with almost any dish on the menu.
Desserts
Churro Donuts (3pc)
These churro donuts are a delightful treat, dusted with cinnamon sugar for a classic flavor. The white miso caramel adds a subtle savory twist, balancing the sweetness. Paired with creamy chocolate gelato, it's a fun and indulgent dessert with a unique fusion twist.
Nama Chocolate
The Nama Chocolate truffle squares melt in your mouth with their silky smooth texture. The rich chocolate flavor is perfectly complemented by a light caramel cream, while the crunchy puff rice and caramel pearls add a delightful contrast in texture, making each bite an indulgent experience.
My Birthday Weekend and The Hospitality
I was lucky enough to celebrate my birthday weekend at Morimoto Asia, and it was truly an unforgettable dining experience. The highlight of the meal was an incredible ice cream sandwich that took dessert to the next level. The outer layer was reminiscent of a classic ice cream cone, with a delightful crispiness that perfectly contrasted with the creamy, velvety ice cream hidden inside. Making it the ideal sweet treat to cap off a fantastic meal. The thoughtful presentation and attention to detail at Morimoto Asia made this birthday celebration even more special!
On top of that, we had the incredible opportunity to meet the chef, who was not only talented but also gracious and engaging. His passion for food truly shone through in our conversation, making the experience even more memorable. It was a fun-filled day from start to finish, and we are immensely grateful to Morimoto Asia for hosting us. We can't wait to return and enjoy more of their exceptional cuisine!
